What is refrigerated air conditioning?
Refrigerated, or reverse-cycle, air conditioning heats and cools your whole home through ducts and vents in the ceiling. It has an outdoor unit and a central indoor unit, usually in the roof space. It can sometimes go under the floor if there is room and access.
Can it heat and cool?
Yes. Reverse cycle means the same system heats in winter and cools in summer.
What does my home need?
Enough roof or underfloor space for the indoor unit and ducts, a spot outside for the outdoor unit, and a suitable power supply. We check all of this before quoting.
How does reverse cycle work?
It moves heat rather than making it. In winter it draws heat from the outside air into your home; in summer it moves heat from inside to outside.
How much does whole-home air conditioning cost?
It depends on the size of your home, the number of zones, the model and whether ducts need replacing. We give you a written quote with any VEU discount shown.
What are the running costs?
They depend on your home’s size and insulation, how many zones you run and your electricity tariff. Zoning and solar panels both help lower them.
Do heating and cooling use the same vents?
Yes. The same ducts and vents deliver both warm and cool air.
Can the system be zoned?
Yes. Most whole-home systems can be zoned, and we plan the zones around how you use your home.
What is inverter technology?
An inverter lets the system speed up and slow down instead of switching on and off. It holds the temperature more steadily and uses less energy.
Can I keep my existing ducts?
Sometimes. We check the condition, size and layout of your ducts before recommending whether to keep or replace them.
Can I connect Wi-Fi?
Most systems we install have a Wi-Fi option, either built in or with an adapter.
